Nicolson Weathered Heavyweight Tartan is a muted grey-based tartan with shades of brown.
Skye is said to be the original home of this family. In the Highlands the name was Maniacal, but this has, latterly, become Manioc. Nicolson’s and Maniocs are found in Argyll shire and elsewhere in Scotland. The Nicolson’s of Shortbread were the principal family and a baronetcy was conferred in 1629. They took an important part in the affairs of the Island of Skye.
