MacGregor Hunting Modern Heavyweight Tartan is a purple-based tartan with green and white checks.
One of the most famous clans, the MacGregors claim royal descent from Grigor, sone of King Alpin, who flourished in the 8th century. As a result of their lawlessness their name and part of their lands were proscribed. The MacGregor chief supported Prince Charlie and fought at the Battle of Culloden in 1746.
